This bedroom renovation presented us with a few unique opportunities for historical renovation. The homeowner’s chief concerns for this room were its draftiness and lack of space. We carefully removed all the brick and insulated behind. We used historically accurate lime putty mortar to re stack the wall in order to ensure the preservation of the soft antique brick. Then we selectively applied a lime plaster to show off the brick and timber construction while lending texture and depth to the walls surfaces. A custom built in provided functionality and we were able to use some solid cherry hardwood that had been handed down to our client from her father. It meant a lot to her that we incorporated the lumber into her home and we love how the live edges and the rich tone of the wood complement the other natural materials on display. Natural wool carpet along with custom curtains brought everything together for a perfect finish.
